Dawkins out against Patriots with neck injury

Latest News - Broncos safety Brian Dawkins will miss the game Sunday against the New England Patriots with a neck injury.

Dawkins was hurt while making a tackle last weekend in a win over the Chicago Bears.

The Patriots are without receiver Deion Branch (groin), linebacker Brandon Spikes (knee), offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back/foot), running back Shane Vereen (hamstring) and safety Patrick Chung (foot).

With Dawkins sidelined, the Broncos altered their secondary. Rookie Quinton Carter will slide over and play strong safety while fellow rookie Rahim Moore takes over at free safety.

Denver also was without special teams standout David Bruton (Achilles).

Cornerback Andre’ Goodman was cleared to play after sustaining a concussion last Sunday.
