Malaysian MotoGP cancelled

Latest News - The Malaysian MotoGP at Sepang has been cancelled following the serious accident for Marco Simoncelli on lap two of the grand prix.

The race will not be restarted so that staff at the Medical Centre can focus completely on treating Simoncelli.

The Italian was hit by Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi after lowsiding at turn 11, then being pulled back across the track by his bike - in front of the following riders.

Simoncelli's helmet came off in the incident and the race was immediately stopped.

UPDATE: Tragically, Marco Simoncelli succumbed to his injuries at 16:56 local time.
